HOME DESIGN WORKSHOP
Develop your own remodel, addition or house design under the
direction of an experienced architect/general contractor.
We follow the same process that an architect uses to design a project
from the start. The first part of each session includes a lecture
covering the fundamentals of quality home design along with exercises
which sharpen your problem-solving skills. The second part consists
of a review of each student's project and guidance on to the next stage
of development. Having a set of as-built floor plans (for remodels
and/or additions) or a site plan (for new construction projects) is
recommended. Students should
be prepared to spend eight to 12 hours per week outside of class to
complete customized homework assignments. Limited to eight students.

OWNER CONTRACTING
The contractor's fee to organize and then supervise a major building
project is generally 10% to 15% of the total cost - $10,000 to $15,000
of a $100,000 remodel. You can save this fee by managing your own
project. Learn how to keep your project on time and on budget , how to
avoid disastrous legal disputes, scheduling snafus and cost overruns.
Whether you are doing none, some or all of the onsite work yourself,
this course can help you save time and money.
